Age of Aquarius
There is little agreement between astrologers about the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, but if you recall the old Fifth Dimension standard, “Aquarius/Let The Sunshine In” () from the musical “Hair” (and later, the movie “Forrest Gump”), you’ll recall the following:
When the moon is in the Seventh House
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
Then peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the starsThis is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The Age of Aquarius Aquarius! Aquarius!
While that alignment is not unique, today is one of the days the moon is in the Seventh House and Jupiter is aligned with Mars. Today is the Dawn of the Age of Aquarius. Pass the champagne! Again! There’s more information about the Age of Pisces ending and the Age of Aquarius beginning over at Wikipedia, where the general consensus is that the Age starts (or has already stated) sometime between 1447AD to 3621AD.
Personally, I like Ben Burress’ explanation over at KQED best. His astronomical explanation is that the Ages changes when the Vernal Equinox moves from one Zodiac position to another. As the earth’s rotation precesses over 26,000 years, an Age is 26,000/12=2167 years and the earth really won’t enter the Age of Aquarius until 2600AD.
Whatever! If you want to celebrate today, go ahead!
